Cancer52 meets with Minister for Cancer

Interim CEO, Sasha Daly was pleased to meet with Minister Andrew Gwynne to talk through cancer services and how Cancer52 can work in partnership to prioritise patients, alongside colleagues at Macmillan Cancer Support and Cancer Research UK. Andrew Gwynne MP is Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Public Health and Prevention with responsibility for cancer strategy and prevention.

As outlined in Cancer52’s manifesto for rare and less common cancers, our three key priorities for Government are:

Priority 1:  Reduce the number of deaths from all cancers by 15% by 2040, saving 80,000 lives, and address health inequalities that contribute to poorer outcomes.

Priority 2:  Increase early diagnosis of rare and less common cancers, which will improve patient experience, quality of life and help save more lives.

Priority 3: A new national mission on rare and less common cancers with patient involvement at its core.
